In this rural, red state with its blue, urban centers in the middle of flyover America, Nebraska Democrats are fired up and ready to get to work. With a We the People vision for our politics, party chair Jane Kleeb is leading the effort to build the party with progressive candidates, issues that matter to working people, and a knock-every-door approach to grassroots organizing.

Design Work

Since the end of 2016, we’ve been furiously designing everything needed to establish the NDP as a force to be reckoned with. We kept the current logo (it does the job) and from there built out a complete family of assets — social media graphics, stationary, event banners, swag, and rally signs. Bold type treatments, crisp color blocks, tight layouts. We also took special care to add a little more visual flare (grit, wit, etc.) when needed.

Note: Heath losing the mayoral race in Omaha was tough to take. Having the best branding in the race certainly didn’t translate to winning at the ballot box. One small consolation, at a dinner several months after the election, a very community-engaged couple brought up the above Bernie/Mello hair graphic. They said when they first saw it on social media, they thought to themselves, “he’s gonna win!” In terms of reaction to a piece of graphic design I’ve made, that’s one of the best.

Sights are set on 2018 and we’re focused on holding the line now. Health care, the environment, immigration, unions, black lives matter, women’s rights, and on and on. All are under assault by an out of touch, divisive, and truly ugly version of politics dominating our state and our country, at least for now. But we aren’t going anywhere. When Democrats come together, true progress is made. We will stand up, fight back, and vote Democrats.

The 2018 Blue Wave

Across Nebraska, 73% of Democrats who ran for office in the General Election won. Very much looking forward to 2020.
