		<description>The University of Nebraska–Lincoln's prestigious College of Architecture brings together an array of disciplines to address real problems and difficult challenges with innovative and collaborative action. Located near one of the best downtowns in the country and now part of the Big 10, the College is looking to up its presence and vision for how creative, community-focused engagement can add value and give form to all aspects of the designed environment. 

Working with Jeff Day, interim Director of the Architecture Program, we've begun designing a brand foundation that is both bold and consistent. The visual system includes contemporary typography, limited color palette and a layered layout approach to highlight student work or reinforce a concept. 

The first projects we've executed in the new brand were a pair of  recruitment posters for the Masters and Bachelors programs to attract potential students. These showcased architectural renderings from student projects. Next was a brochure highlighting the study abroad program that layered a set of travel-inspired patterns and airport wayfinding elements. 

This is an extremely exciting time for the College and we're looking forward to continue building a brand to accompany the progressive vision.

		<description>The mission of the Greater Omaha Young Professionals is to serve as a catalyst organization to retain and attract young professionals to the Greater Omaha area through engagement, opportunity and advocacy.

The theme for the 2013 YP Summit was personal transformation and the commitment it takes to do what you love, to activate your community and to make change happen, despite the risks and the failures that inevitably occur. It was a very positive event for the young professionals in the city who heard from John Legend, Adam Braun and a variety of energetic changemakers making things happen in Omaha. 

The design work focused on event identity carried through a variety of social channels and collateral materials.

		<description>In the months leading up to the 2012 election, I worked with the Obama Campaign to re-elect the President to a second term. The extremely talented, forward-looking design team in Chicago was headed up by Josh Higgins. A creative team outside of Chicago HQ was coordinated from NYC. It was an honor to be a part of the effort.

Collaborating with campaign staff, design work focused on President Obama's first term accomplishments, the end of the Iraq War, his views on important issues, the extreme positions of the other side, and getting supporters fired up and ready to vote.

The following graphics were pushed out through the campaign's digital networks on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and BarackObama.com.

		<description>On November 6th, 2012, the people voted NO on Proposition 32 and refused to allow corporations, billionaire CEOs and hedge fund managers to weaken the rights of the workers. They said NO to an unfair, unbalanced and undemocratic playing field. They refused to be misled and they stood up for all working Californians.

The creative team for the NO on 32 campaign was led by TaskForce and Swell Creative Group. JKDC crafted the identity and executed all designs including posters, share graphics, billboards, swag, progressive voter guide and provided design direction for the mural video created by HVW8 in Los Angeles.

Finally, a concert was put on to get people fired up and ready to vote. Read about it at Rolling Stone: Tom Morello, Crosby, Stills and Nash Fired Up for California Unions.

		<description>In 2012 we decided to move forward a progressive America. We ushered in victories for equality, voting rights, weed and Obama. The following are a variety of designs made for Rock the Vote, the ACLU, an I Voted Today collaboration, a Voting Rights Poster Show and a Mr. President personal project.

		<description>In 2012, Nebraska Appleseed worked with Cathy Solarana to rebrand the organization. The annual poster show visualized the new mantra; to inspire people to Stand Up For Justice in their community. To tear down the obstacles of discrimination, oppression, and reckless indifference that keep the poorest of us poor and further weaken those among us who are vulnerable.

JKDC helped organize the effort and contributed a poster. Many thanks to the other designers who donated their time. The posters were beautifully screen printed by  Screen Ink.

		<description>An Omaha-based tech startup who strongly believes that connected and contributing communities can be built through effective online engagement.

Since early 2011, I've worked with the company to build a unique, accessible and enjoyable brand experience for community members and community leaders. In cities across America, MindMixer has brought people together to create solutions. 

Now the director of a dedicated design team located in what has become a creative center of the city, the Mastercraft building, we're currently crafting the next phase for the product. As the application grows and changes, we are happy to be in this exciting time for the rise of the civic startup.
